Getting Certified

The UK Woodland Assurance Standard provides the central component of the forest certification programmes operated in the UK by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and the Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes (PEFC).

Woodland owners/managers need to appoint an accredited certification body to carry out audits against the UKWAS standard. Please refer to FSC UK and PEFC UK for up-to-date information and advice on which certification bodies are authorised to carry out an independent third party evaluation for each scheme.

For advice on the introduction of the revised Third Edition of the UK Woodland Assurance Standard and transitional arrangements for owners/managers to meet the revised requirements see Notices to Users.
